Dangers of Social Media

Yeah, I'm no expert in this whole social media revolution, but I do read some people who might be (well, they certainly know more than I do...) Anyway, I read  this article  called 15 Obstacles in Social Media and, well, I'll share them here.  Go to the article, of course, for the full context: Something you say will be taken out of context and misinterpreted. Someone will not like your view or perspective on something. You will feel like you have a lot less control than you used to. You will feel like your voice is not your own. You will go through periods when you don't have anything to say, but you know you need to say something. You will go through periods when you have a lot to say, and you forget to capture the ideas. You will unintentionally say something stupid. You'll be tempted to use social media as another sales tool and neglect it as a connection tool. You will feel the temptation to work on something easier but less strategic. You will get ove

Hi Def

So I discovered two weeks ago that we have hi def channels on Youngsville Cable - who knew?  Steve couldn't believe that I hadn't gone up into the 80s on our channels to look for them (I used to do stuff like that...but I guess I don't anymore...). Anyway, Hi Def?  It's awesome!  If you're going to watch TV for any reason - you need to watch in hi def.  So we only have the Big Three networks, fox and (riddle me this, Batman) two different CW channels in hi def.  It makes it hard to watch standard broadcast definition TV now...I'm so stinkin' spoiled :) Clarity.  That's what it's all about. And...if I may wax philosophic (heh, it's my birthday and I'll...um....philosophize if I want to) I need clarity in my life.  You know what I mean?  I want to be absolutely clear in what I say and do.  I want to, as Paul writes, "shine like stars."  That's my resolution, I guess. T minus four and a half hours til Jets and Steers...wooh

How To NOT Do Graphic Design

I was searching for something online and I saw this as a thumbnail image...and...well, you can maybe guess what I THOUGHT it said... Here's what it really is: Friday 6 September 1963 The Beatles' second UK EP was released on this day. It contained three previous a-sides and one b-side. Side one contained From Me To You and its b-side Thank You Girl. The second side featured Please Please Me and Love Me Do. (linky here:  Beatles' Hits )

Did you ever wake up with something running through your head?

Okay, it happens too often that I wake up with a song running through my head (usually something annoying) but every once in a while it's something else... So when I woke up this morning I was thinking about Jesus saying: 20   Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. About  four years ago I talked about this verse  in light of a difficult question on suicide.  I stand by what I had to say there, if you want to check it out. I was thinking this morning, though, more about the context of the verse.  Jesus addresses the lukewarm - neither hot nor cold.  There's some cool historical stuff that I've found in commentaries - like in the area there were hot springs and cold springs and the water was brought to Laodicea from some distance on an aqueduct.  Now if the source was either hot or cold probably wouldn't matter since it would travel for miles...and become luk
